Bangkok: Where Should You Stay?
If temples and the Old Town are your focus, consider Khao San or the Old Town; if shopping and BTS access matter most, Siam or Sukhumvit may suit you better. Choose the riverside for river views and boat travel, or explore Silom–Sathorn for public transport and central access. Bangkok has two airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, and the best way into town depends on where you arrive.
What Kind of Trip Is Bangkok Best For?
From the Grand Palace and temples to the Chao Phraya riverside, major shopping complexes, markets, cafés, bars, and pubs, Bangkok offers a different feel for every interest. It’s a great fit for exploring the history and temples of the Old Town, planning a city itinerary around the BTS and MRT, or connecting sights by riverboat.
For nightlife and restaurants, consider Sukhumvit; for shopping, Siam; and for temples and budget stays, Khao San or the Old Town.
Where Should You Stay?
First choose the neighborhood that will be your base, then check how easily each hotel connects to the BTS, MRT, or pier you’ll use most.

Riverside · Riverside
Riverside hotels suit travelers who prioritize Chao Phraya views and boat travel. Check the nearest pier to make it easy to include riverside sights in your itinerary. You may need to plan more than in areas centered around rail stations, so check the transport options between your hotel and the pier.

Siam · Siam
A convenient base if central BTS access and shopping are your priorities. Look for a hotel around BTS Siam Station. If the Old Town temples or the riverside are central to your trip, check transport connections to those areas too.
